I suppose you can live in the shed. After all, homeless people live in boxes in alleys and under freeway overpasses. So, yes it is possible to live in a shed.

You aren’t going to be able to sell your house calling the shed a bedroom, no matter how nice you make it.

Bedrooms need insulation, egress (window or door that meets code), minimum ceiling height, proper electric outlets, sealed door, if it goes outside and access to a bathroom without going back outside first, and heating.

For my IB Environmental Sciences class, I must design an experiement that measures and traces the flow of a particular nutrient in a closed ecosystem.

Here is what the Science Lab Planning Worksheet looks like:

————

Planning (a):
1) Research Question:
2) Hypothesis/Prediction:
3) Independent Variable(s):
4) Dependent Variable(s):
5) Control Variables:

Planning (b):
1) Materials:
2) Apparatus:
3) Procedures/Protocols:

Notes:

————

If anyone could shed some light on this for me and assist me in coming up with ideas for a good experiment for this, in addition to assisting me with the above outlined sections, I would greatly appreciate it!

I will give a good amount of points to the best answer, so please be as thorough and detailed as possible when responding!

You have a lot of leeway with this, since you can choose whatever nutrient you want. Some nutrients, like water, are easy to track since they can be measured very well in the environment, and you automatically have a good idea of how much water each organism holds. I would first research different types of nutrients before you start this project.

Good luck!

We are looking to buy a storage shed to fit a Lawn mover, Snow Blower, 4 bikes and some other small knicks and knacks. I was looking for advise on
1. what material (wood, plastic, vinyl etc)
2. Size
3. Where should I buy it (Home depot, Lowe’s or a local maker).

Thank you.

we live in CT and have a Rubbermaid shed the Big Max, it was easy to put together and has been out in the yard for 6 plus winters- everything is still dry. It does need to get hosed out once a year as the spiders love it, but all you have to do is move the stuff into the lawn, hose away, let dry and its good to go.
it also has the ability to be locked with a pad lock- to keep the stuff where you left it.
the new ones have windows ad i’m guessing that cuts down on the spiders as they like the dark.

we got ours at the home depot- I would shop around for prices.

i am building an 8 by 12 garden shed, how can i make it soundproof
i am building a shed at the bottom of my garden and i want to put some music equipment in there and was just wondering if there is a cheap solution to soundproof

Use 4" by 6" wall studs and fill the area with very dense insulation. Use "soundproof " windows. Google Soundproof Windows". Cost more than regular but well worth it! They use two layers of glass bonded over a thick inner liner of vinyl. They are also pretty much burglar proof – very strong! The sound reduction is claimed to be 95%’ The windows can be mounted inside of the walls or outside of the walls. If you buy a premanufactured kit use the windows that caome with the kit. Add the sound proof windows inside or outside of the windows that come with the kit. Mount the sindproof windows at least three inches away from the windows that come with the kit.

Use 4" by 6" roof rafters and use dense insulation, about 13". There are "sound resistant insulation – "noise control" available. These are not very thick, about two inches, but have a dense, lead-like substance in them. Check with your local car audio store if you can not find a supplier. The car audio store sells blankets of the stuff.

Do not forget to insulate under the floor with the sound proof material.

I assume you are running a torture chamber or band practice? Duh!

Also, if you use a Kit, pre manufactured kit, do not EVER buy one that does not have VERY wide eaves. These dumb little kits, no eaves, allow water to run down the sides and front and back of your shed and rot/mold the sides something terrible!

Any help out there? I’ve done carpentry and remodels before, but wish to do this one on my own. I don’t want to buy the plans for this project. I also do not have anyone helping to pay for this with me, so I need to plan ahead for my new shed, saving up for it for the next couple months until it warms back up. How much will it cost, approximately?
Those kits at the "Home or Building " stores start around a thousand dollars. (I may need that long to save up!)
Advice, handy persons?

This size is larger than the one I have right now, and have limited space in which to build it. Sure, I’d like an entire garage, but won’t get that wish on my lot.

Here’s some pretty good looking plans:
