not sure about scotland but in england a wooden building is not classed as a permanent structure so you don't need planning permission

you may have to comply to building control though, we build a log cabin 60ft by 25ft the conditions where it had to be 3 foot from the boundary fence , for fire regulations, and not take up more than half of the garden.

phone your local council and they will tell you what there building control restrictions are
References :
hi

I live in Scotland

it is more to do with position and location than size

We got a garage built, for storage, away from the house
and didn't require planing permission
it wasn't blocking anything, nor was it a fire hazard

Maybe call your local council, and ask them

and do tell them where you are planning on placing it
References :
I live in Queens, NY. The property is very small and I do not have room to put a storage shed. I was told of something better though. I rent a storage unit from http://www.storagedeluxe.com/. The storage facility is great and I have never had a problem with it. I recommend taking a look at them instead of wasting money on one of those sheds that may get ruined.
References :
http://www.storagedeluxe.com/

Try installing some flashing around the shed and use a cement adhesive. You might even want to double up the flashing. What I mean by that is put a roll around the shed and then start another maybe an inch away from the first roll. On your second roll, put some caulking under the flashing to help divert the water. You could also put some gutters on your shed to help divert the water. They make this black plastic pipe with holes in it for diverting water. Dig down into the earth enough that when it rains, the water goes into the pipe and away from the shed.
References :
Of course, but there will problems to overcome and will not be financially sound to try to comply with new energy codes, so make sure a building department is not going to slap a Stop Work Order on the premises. This can be trouble. In other words, it is a gamble.
References :
I suppose you can live in the shed. After all, homeless people live in boxes in alleys and under freeway overpasses. So, yes it is possible to live in a shed.

You aren't going to be able to sell your house calling the shed a bedroom, no matter how nice you make it.

Bedrooms need insulation, egress (window or door that meets code), minimum ceiling height, proper electric outlets, sealed door, if it goes outside and access to a bathroom without going back outside first, and heating.
